On 23 March 2009, Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) started its first celebration for the launch of the 2nd Census @ school project at Pro Arte Alphen Park School in Pretoria, Gauteng. The staff and learners welcomed the then Minister of Finance, Trevor Manuel and his entourage, the Chairperson of the Statistics Council, Howard Gabriels, the Statistician-General, Pali Lehohla, the Deputy Director-General: Corporate Relations, Risenga Maluleke, the Deputy Director-General: Population and Social Statistics, Ms Kefiloe Masiteng, and other staff members from Stats SA at the school.

The highlight of the day was when the Minister shared with learners his experience in learning Mathematics.
